Joy Elise- Newborn

It overwhelms me that our baby girl is over a month old. Already. They say “the days are long but the years are short”, and I’m sort of already feeling it.

I’ve been planning for the longest time to write down Joy’s birth story. Of course, I loved the idea of sharing it publicly to help encourage other women who are considering birth without medical intervention (it’s possible and so amazing), but also so I would never ever forget the details. Although it’s almost silly to think I would forget the details… but it went by so fast. So long, and so fast, and I remember glimpses and moments but collectively it’s a mumbo jumbo. So I still hope to get it all down on paper, but at this point (a month later!) we will just have to see.

So, for now, here are photos of my daughter. Taken at 10 days. I’m in total awe of how beautiful she is- and how much she has grown in such a short, short time.

Check out our Vlog from the day she was born. Short, yet sweet, and my very favorite to date.

I Took His Hand and Followed
    Mrs. Roy L. Peifer

    My dishes went unwashed today,

    I didn’t make the bed,

I took his hand and followed

    Where his eager footsteps led.

    Oh yes, we went adventuring,

    My little son and I…

    Exploring all the great outdoors

    Beneath the summer sky..

We waded in a crystal stream,

    We wandered through a wood…

    My kitchen wasn’t swept today

But life was gay and good.

We found a cool, sun-dappled glade

And now my small son knows

How Mother Bunny hides her nest,

    Where jack-in-the-pulpit grows.

We watched a robin feed her young,

    We climbed a sunlit hill…

Saw cloud-sheep scamper through the sky,

    We plucked a daffodil.

    That my house was neglected,

That I didn’t brush the stairs,

In twenty years, no one on earth

    Will know, or even care.

But that I’ve helped my little boy

    To noble manhood grow,

In twenty years, the whole wide world

May look and see and know.

  2. And she will flourish and get so busy that you will be so busy running after her. Time moves quickly so enjoy the Joy of her growth. Hugs

  3. You are very welcome, Dear. This here poem inspired me when my daughter was a few months old. I did all those things and more with Lilly Anne. She is almost 14 now, and we STILL have adventures. This poem is revered, especially in the homeschool community. I believe you and Joy will always have a special bond and adventures together! Jeff and you both have a lot of curiosity and spontaneity. Oh! What fun you will have! And I for one, would be ever so grateful to see you vlog any of it! Love in Christ, Mrs. Jaime C.

  4. FYI-we sent Joy an early Christmas gift through Amazon. I can’t seem to find your email, but you have mine so if you email me I can forward the order info. It should be there anywhere from Dec 7-10th we got some great deals this year! Cyber Monday rocks! Love in Christ, Mrs. Jaime C.<3
